In 1955, after many first place finishes in international races with 150S and 200S Maseratis, Benoìt Musy acquired a new Maserati 300S (3 litres).

At the Grand Prix of Sweden (Malmoe) in 1956, he was given the opportunity to drive for the factory Maserati team.  Juan-Manuel Fangio won the Grand Prix and Benoît Musy finished the race in fifth place behind Sterling Moss and Jean Behra.   The same year in Karlskoga (S) Benoît won first place with his Maserati 300S.   In 1955, at Oulton Park (UK) he beat the lap record for the British Empire Trophy driving the 300S.
