Pio Julius Gustave de Meyer {Meyères}- (1871-1965), originally from Oeschgen (Argovie -Switzerland), Doctor in medicine (MD), resident-in-chief of the "Sanatorium of Leysin" VD (1898-1918), Citizen of Fribourg in 1939, "Knight of the Order of Malta," and "Commander of the Order of St. Gregory the Great." The nobility title of Count de Meyer was granted to him by hereditary transmission to the first born in the family, son of Count Jules de Meyer, (1829-1907) and of Maria Pocobelli (1852-1930)
Pio de Meyer married on February 13, 1903 Marie Louise Claire Henriette Blondel (1878-1956), tertiary of "St.-François, active member of
woman's suffrage movement with Mrs. Lise Girardin for the right to vote in Switzerland. Benevolent member of "Amnesty International" for human rights, rights and freedom to which
all humans are entitled. Six children were born from the union of Pio and Marie-Louise de Meyer: Marie Pia de Meyer (1904-1994), Christiane de Meyer (1905-1995), Xavier de
Meyer (1908-1970) attorney-at-law, Jean de Meyer (1914-1944) - first Lieutenant cavalry "Escadron 5," Gonzague de Meyer (1916-1992) - M.D., specialist F.M.H., internal
medicine, and Gérard de Meyer (1918-1927).
